Going in to Exam Week

Hey Crew,

We're heading in to exam week. There will be no structured training sessions for most of you, but it is important to keep up with training. Working out has been proven to relieve stress and improve test scores! (Well worth an hour of your day.) At the end of this post I will provide a few simple workouts to do at the school on your own time, or at home. There are also some great workouts in our 'Video Resources' section of the blog. We are heading in to erg competition season, so keep yourself motivated with that! We will still do a Brock Tank sessions with the Jr. Women Saturday January 25th, 8-9:30am. We will be back to normal January 30th.

Our novices will be heading over to Ridley College for a little friendly competition on Wednesday February 5th. We will get out of school a bit early and take a bus over to their rowing facility to race 1500m. Parents will have to pick up their athletes at Ridley. More information to come as that develops.

I had previously not planned it, but I would like to have a group of athletes attend the DM Erg Competition on Saturday February 8th. It is a 1500m race and will be a great start to erg competition season. Cost will most likely be $15. There is little information on this event at this time,  but make a note of it on your calendar. I will fill in the details as I find out more.

Your coaches and I are very excited about the work and progress our athletes are making. Let's keep up the good work, and make those efforts towards self improvement!

New Year Updates

Hello Crew,

We're in to Winter now! If the school is closed, practice will be cancelled, so check media sources for cancellations before heading out if you're unsure. Safety first... but if you are unable to make it to practice for whatever reason, there are some great work-out options in the video section of the blog.

We start up at the Brock Tank on Saturday 8:00am-9:30am with the Junior Women's program. Junior men, and senior women will be there next Saturday the 18th. We will alternate weekends. I have had to cancel 2 of the dates because of indoor rowing competitions on the Saturday February 15th, and Saturday March 2nd. There will be some shifting of original shifts because of this, but I will post new schedule as soon as this is confirmed.

Directions to the Tank:

If parents are keen to get more involved, we will be having a meeting Monday January 13th at 3:10 to talk about upcoming fundraising events and ways to improve the program. I will meet you in the lobby of the school and I'll see if we can have access to the staff room.

We will have some OPTIONAL spirit wear available to athletes and Eden Rowing supporters real soon. I will post options and how to purchase as soon as that goes through, but it is in the process of preparation right now, so stay tuned.

That's all for now, but check in again soon for updates on Brock Tank, Spirit Wear, and upcoming indoor rowing competitions.

Keep Warm.

Get out and shovel some driveways!

Hey Crew,

Awesome turn out today, and the rest of the break for that matter.

Remember, get out there and shovel your parent's driveways... and maybe your elderly neighbor's! It's great exercise, plus it's the least you could do for your parents since they so graciously drive you to rowing practice in the morning.

Just be careful!
